How to integrate Gift Aid into Fundraising

5 Top Tips for getting more Gift Aid:

  • Let people know what’s going on, and what Gift Aid can do for your cause. It’s worth sharing this outside the fundraising team, as anyone can tell your story and pass on the message.
  • Brief the volunteers, and fundraising teams at your site, or before each event you’ll be collecting funds at.
  • Give them a demonstration on a device or online, so they are confident they can help guests or visitors.
  • Signpost your devices so it’s clear where donations can be made, and at what point in the donation journey Gift Aid can be collected.
  • Add strong messaging that creates an emotional connection with your supporters.

Giving choice on where the donor wants their money to be spent empowers them further. The Donation Station asks this question and gives charities freedom to present their causes and activities as separate campaigns.

An integrated Gift Aid function on all Donation Stations helps boost fundraising a further 25%. This tax relief can be claimed from HRMC from any donor that supplies their contact details and makes a declaration, as a UK tax payer. The Donation Station is designed to encourage and secure this additional fundraising income easily, through simple reports that can be downloaded and submitted to HMRC as part of a Gift Aid claim.
